Laureate Award Presented to
Virgina Wood, M.D., F.A.C.P.
DAYTON, OHIO--Virginia C. Wood, M.D., F.A.C.P., associate professor of Internal Medicine and director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wright State University School of Medicine has been chosen by the American College of Physicians (ACP)-American Society of Internal Medicine (ASIM) to receive the 2002 Laureate Award from the Ohio Chapter ACP-ASIM.
The Laureate Award honors those who demonstrate by their example and conduct, an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education or research, and service to their communities and the ACP-ASIM.
Wood is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Miami Valley Hospital, and a fellowship in critical care medicine at Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh. She has been a faculty member at Wright State School of Medicine since 1983.
Wood is a Fellow with the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. She is a member of the Ohio Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Ohio State Medical Society, and the Montgomery County Medical Society. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, was designated "Teacher of the Year" at Miami Valley Hospital four times, and has received an award for teaching excellence three times. Wood was presented the Malcolm Block, M.D., Award for Contributions to Education, and a Special Achievement Award from the YWCA Salute to Career Women.
