Learn How to Be a Survivor at
Wright State's Wilderness Expo 2002

DAYTON, OHIO-Whether you're headed for the Himalayas or just a stroll in the park, you can learn how to stay healthy and safe in the great outdoors at Wilderness Expo 2002. Presented by emergency medicine doctors at Wright State University School of Medicine, this event takes place Saturday, February 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wright State's Student Union, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway, Dayton.

Emergency Medicine Department physicians from area hospitals, along with Wright State medical students, will give mini-presentations and hold small group workshops on wilderness safety, preparation, and survival. The emphasis for these sessions is emergency survival techniques for sports enthusiasts and anyone who ventures outdoors. There will be multimedia presentations and workshops plus a variety of exhibits, and doorprizes.

Topics include:

Hot/Cold: When They Become Dangerous
Basic First Aid in the Backcountry
Breaks and Bruises, Strains and Sprains
Stings, Bites, Blisters and Rashes
Altitude Emergencies: Tips for Climbers
Chemical and Biological Threats
