Wright State School of Medicine sponsors
"Themes in Health Systems Management"

Today's rapidly changing healthcare environment offers real advancement in the quality of health care provided in this country, as well as numerous conflicting challenges. The Division of Health Systems Management at Wright State University School of Medicine is sponsoring a two-day conference highlighting issues of critical importance for physicians and health care leaders. To meet these challenges, "Themes in Health Systems Management," will be held November 19-20, at the David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center, in Dayton, Ohio.

The conference brings together a panel of national and international leaders to share the latest developments in health system management and health services research. The keynote speaker is Greg Meyer, M.D., M.Sc., Director, Center for Quality Measurement and Improvement, at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). In his position, Meyer is responsible for one of the key national programs focused on health care quality. He will discuss current federal initiatives to improve quality in health care.

Other crucial topics addressed include: medical errors, outcomes analysis, physician education, cost effectiveness, evidence based guideline development, international health system comparisons, and the employer role in U.S. health care. Speakers include: Lewis Sandy, M.D., MBA, Executive Vice President, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Bernard Bloom, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania; Steven Katz, M.D., MPH; Mark Fendrick, M.D., University of Michigan and Bruce Bradley, General Motors.

An Israeli physician delegation from Western Galilee Hospital­Nahariya, will participate in the conference. They will be sharing information on their health care system and improvements that may be applicable in the U.S.
